Campanilla Homeowners: Important Milgard Window Update
Why This Matters
Many of you in Campanilla are hitting the 10-year builder warranty period on your Milgard windows. Here’s the catch: Milgard is strict on deadlines. I recently put a home into escrow and asked for a replacement—only to be told, “Sorry, you’re a few months past your warranty. No coverage.”
To save you from the same frustration, here’s a quick guide on how to file your claim, what to look for, and what to do if you’re outside of warranty.
Step 1: File a Service Request Online
Milgard won’t talk to you directly until you’ve submitted a service request. Here’s how:
Enter your information and create a service ticket
Wait for a confirmation email with your service number
Keep this service number handy—it’s how you’ll follow up.
Step 2: Find Your Sales Order & Line Number
Each window has a small, 12–15 digit code etched in the glass. You’ll only need two parts of it:
Sales order number
Line number
👉 Heads up: these numbers often fade and can be hard to spot. Use a magnifying glass or your phone flashlight to locate them. They’re usually in the top corners, but sometimes lower on the pane.
Tip: When in doubt, submit all your windows in the request. Even if some look fine now, they may become foggy later—and you don’t want to miss your coverage window.
Step 3: What to Expect From Milgard
Processing time: usually 4–6 weeks
Repair process: they replace the glass only (not the entire window)
Common issues: foggy glass, bubbling corners, seal failure
One neighbor reported Milgard approved the glass replacement but required him to arrange (and pay for) scaffolding. If you hear similar feedback, let me know—maybe we can coordinate as a neighborhood solution.
Original Owners vs. Secondary Owners
Original owners: Milgard offers a lifetime warranty on the windows
Secondary owners: Coverage lasts 10 years from the original installation date
The installation date is included on the sales order code. Add 10 years to that date to determine your exact warranty deadline. After that, Milgard will not cover replacements.
If You’re Out of Warranty
For homeowners past the 10-year mark, I recommend Horizon. They use Milgard glass, are more affordable, and have been easy to work with in my experience. I’ll link their info below.
Final Thoughts
Window issues are common in Campanilla, but with the right timing and process, you can save yourself thousands by using your warranty. Don’t wait—check your windows, file your service request, and keep your home in top shape.
